Hyosung TNC Highlights Scalable Bio-based Innovation at Future Fabrics Expo

June 17, 2026; Seoul, South Korea – In support of driving positive change in the fashion and textile supply chain at scale, Hyosung TNC, a leading supplier of complete sustainable solutions and the largest manufacturer of elastane by market share, will highlight the commercialization of its Hyosung Bio BDO solutions derived from sugarcane at the Future Fabrics Expo taking place this year at the Brussels Expo venue June 24-25 alongside the Textile Recycling Expo.
Future Fabrics Expo is a chief destination for sourcing sustainably and responsibly-produced, best-practice and certified materials that enable the industry to move away from fossil-fuel based linear production systems. As new EU policies reshape the textile industry, Brussels offers a timely setting for brands and industry stakeholders to engage and advance progress toward climate goals, according to The Sustainable Angle, creator and organizer of Future Fabrics Expo.
Having recently sponsored several prominent sustainability conferences to include the Global Fashion Summit and Innovation Forum’s Sustainability Conferences earlier this spring, Hyosung reveals sustainability is now part of a wider discussion that’s not just about product, but about overall contribution to corporate goals.

At Future Fabrics Expo stand B23, Hyosung will present the scale-up of its Hyosung Bio BDO solutions derived from sugarcane at its fully integrated production facilities in Vietnam, where raw sugar is fermented into bio-BDO (a primary spandex ingredient) then transformed into Bio-PTMG and ultimately Hyosung BIO Spandex for apparel applications. Hyosung’s sugarcane feedstock is verified through the VIVE Platform.
Identical to conventional BDO, bio-BDO is a drop-in spandex component, allowing Hyosung BIO Spandex to be exactly the same as conventional spandex with regards to performance and quality over time including elongation and recovery. Keeping production in Vietnam creates an integrated vertical supply chain, reducing carbon emissions tied to transportation. This localization also builds in risk mitigation and speed, helping to prevent supply disruptions.
The company will share how this story comes to life an informative and visually compelling video produced for Hyosung by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions. The video takes you on the journey from sugarcane fields in Brazil to Hyosung’s integrated production facilities in Vietnam demonstrating the process of how the raw sugar is ultimately processed into Hyosung BIO Spandex.
To support the future of bio-materials, Hyosung is sponsoring the new curated Biosynthetics Textiles display on the show floor adjacent to its stand.
To further the Bio-based discussion, Whitmarsh-Knight will join a panel discussion titled Evolution of Next-Gen Fibres: Transitioning from Petrochemical to Bio-Based Feedstocks, taking place Thursday, June 25 at 12:00PM on the center stage.
