Today we’re covering FDC’s FW 27/28 Relaxed Outdoors’ssecond theme, Earthy Comfort – bio-derived fabrics blended with natural fibers for extra comfort and ease.

Earthy Comfort

Interest in naturally derived raw materials continues to grow, and loungewear and activewear brands are constantly expanding it. This theme is for comfort lounge and active wear using a mix of natural and performance fibers. For example, fabrics blended natural fibers like cotton, modal, Tencel or wool with synthetic fibers such as poly and nylon increase durability and add functionality. At the same time, the use of bio-derived spandex made from sugarcane adds a sustainability narrative while providing comfortable stretch and ease of movement.

Our recommended yarns, fabrics and applications for Earthy Comfort include:

Key Yarns

• regen™ BIO Spandex/Elastane: spandex partly made with renewable resources
• regen™ Spandex/Elastane: 100% recycled, RCS-certified spandex made from the reclaimed waste from our manufacturing process
• regen™ Aerolight: a lightweight 100% recycled polyester providing outstanding moisture management function and refreshing feel
• regen™ Aqua-X Nylon: 100% recycled nylon with cooling action
• regen™ Askin Polyester: 100% recycled polyester with cooling action
• CREORA@ Color+ Spandex/Elastane: a special acid/reactive dyeable spandex/elastane, which has excellent elasticity with the added benefit of providing long-lasting richer colors in nylon and natural fiber blends. It reduces grin-through on textile products and makes fabric colors deeper and more vivid.
• CREORA® Eco-Soft Spandex/Elastane: a low-temperature setting stretch yarn that can be set at a temperature of about 10 to 15 degrees Celsius lower than regular spandex. This product helps to prevent fabric yellowing and heat damage at high temperatures, resulting in vivid white fabric

Suggested Fabrics

To meet the demand for both a soft touch and sustainability, this trend focuses on developing fabrics using natural fibers and regenerated fibers as key fiber, suitable for activewear and

active loungewear. We incorporated Hyosung’s special polyester, Aerolight, to enhance wicking and quick-dry performance and used regen™ Bio Spandex alongside natural or

regenerated fibers to support sustainable storytelling.

Single jersey/ Terry/ Interlock/ Blends of natural or regenerated yarns with bio-based spandex/ Jacquard knit with modal and functional polyester
