New video shares how the collaboration
Hyosung utilize Geno’s bio-based 1,4-butanediol (Geno™ Bio-BDO) technology, which ferments sugars from sugarcane. This breakthrough allows Hyosung to replace fossil-based raw materials, like coal, with plant-based alternatives to produce a major chemical intermediate—Bio-BDO—used in the creation of regen™ Bio spandex.
*BDO, short for butanediol, is a key chemical ingredient traditionally derived from fossil fuels and widely used in the production of spandex.
Hyosung’s partnership with Geno establishes the world’s first fully integrated manufacturing site for bio-based spandex from renewable raw material to fiber, to increase production efficiency, provide faster response to our customer needs, and integrate value chains to help minimize carbon footprint.
