Big Agnes Teams with Hyosung in the Development of its First-Ever Backpack Collection

New sustainable pack line leverages over two decades of product design and development experience

October 7, 2021; Seoul, South Korea/Steamboat Springs, CO – Big Agnes, the multi-award-winning outdoor equipment brand, has collaborated with Hyosung, a global fiber manufacturer and value chain solutions provider, in the development of its new line of technical and sustainable backpacks for Spring 2022. The introduction comes at a time when Big Agnes is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Big Agnes’ collection of six backpacks, which range from 20-liters to 63-liters in a capacity designed for both men and women, are made with Hyosung’s 100% recycled and GRS-certified Mipan® regen robic high-tenacity nylon containing a solution-dyed ripstop grid. Mipan® regen robic nylon is made from reclaimed waste, which saves valuable non-renewable resources from being removed from the earth.

“We are honored to partner with Big Agnes, a brand synonymous with award-winning design and innovation, to find the right sustainable solution for its new backpack line, said Mike Simko, Global Marketing Director, Hyosung -Textiles. “We congratulate the Big Agnes team on a successful launch, and 20 years of providing us with sensational gear.”

“Our packs have been years in the making, and we’re thrilled to bring them to market with 100% recycled fabrics,” said Bill Gamber, co-founder and president of Big Agnes. “Sustainability is such a core part of our business – and Hyosung’s partnership allowed us to offer premium backpacks with an ultralight footprint.”

Alongside the pack introduction, Big Agnes is launching a 7-liter Big Agnes Trash Can, an easily attachable and packable accessory for collecting litter on the trail and in camp. The Trash Can is made from the same Mipan® regen robic nylon fabric as the packs and will be included with all 45-liter to 63-liter packs, but also sold separately as an accessory. Big Agnes is partnering with Leave No Trace by donating a portion of sales from every pack and Trash Can to assist in its global efforts to sustain healthy public lands.

“We’re excited to be among the first retailers to sell Big Agnes’ new pack line,” said Sean Green, Senior Buyer at Moosejaw Mountaineering. “Big Agnes is one of our strongest camping equipment partners and we know we can count on them for high-quality gear and a dedication to using sustainable materials wherever possible. Constructing backpacks from recycled Mipan regen robic makes sense and we can’t wait to introduce them to our customers.”
