Mill Partner Spotlight on Bossa Denim

We are happy to shine our Mill Partner spotlight Bossa – a major textile innovator specializing in premium denim fabrics, backed by substantial production capacity and advanced capabilities in dyeing and finishing.
Founded in 1951, Bossa is one of the leading integrated textile corporations in Turkey. With decades of expertise, Bossa has consistently maintained its leadership position through a commitment to high quality, innovation, and a differentiated product portfolio. It’s customer-focused approach—offering tailored solutions, fast delivery, an extensive market network, competitive pricing, and exceptional service—has earned Bossa a reputation for high customer satisfaction across global markets.
Bossa’s key business strength lies in its enduring partnerships with renowned brands and designers worldwide. The company takes pride in being a trusted source for trend-driven innovation, consistently delivering new ideas and superior products to its customers.
Mr. Mehmet Alpay, Bossa Product Development Chief, was kind answer a few questions with regards to the company’s collaboration with Hyosung.
When did Bossa and Hyosung begin working together and how?
Commercial relationship between Bossa and Hyosung has a history since 2011, which was started with matching customer demands. Currently Hyosung is a big spandex supplier for Bossa with an amount of 180 tons per year.
What does Bossa look for when selecting a fiber company to partner with?
A fiber company should have the same point of view with us and our customers about sustainable issues. Socially and ecologically responsible textile production is essential and should be followed with valid certification systems.
Also, a fiber supplier must be open minded for R&D activities which are always pushed by changing denim trends.
Consistent quality production and on time delivery with a reliable supply chain are other important issues that we look for.
Can you give an example of how both companies work together to anticipate brand developers’ needs?
This type of business can be developed after a special customer request, or some different ideas can appear from both Bossa and Hyosung sides followed by brainstorming sessions. In any case, both companies share their know-how and experience to satisfy brands to get the best results.
We’d love to know about a particularly challenging brand request and how Bossa, in collaboration with Hyosung, worked through it.
A specific example for this type of request can be Zara’s demand about recycled spandex usage in some articles. This collaboration has been started after a particular need but grown up to spread in other markets.
How have you seen denim trends change over the last few years?
Fast fashion is still dominant in market, also sustainability issues are always on the agenda of most famous brands with a growing volume.
What does sustainability mean to you and what are some of the sustainable initiatives Bossa takes part in?
Bossa always cares about sustainable production methods regardless of brand requests.
These can be in different ways – it may be usage of more sustainable raw materials such as recycled fibres or ecologic man-made fibres. We always have targets to decrease consumption of all types of production inputs such as energy, water, chemicals and labor.
We have our own cotton recycling facility operating. We can produce a major part of our electricity via solar power and we always have annual plans to lower the water/chemical/energy required while producing a meter of denim fabric.
What brands do you think are doing exceptional work with regards to sustainability?
Bestseller group and premium brands like Nudie in the Scandinavian market are always interested in sustainable products.
M&S in the UK market has a sustainable program called Plan A that has been running since 2007, which all suppliers should follow to continue doing business with them. And at Bossa, we always try to increase the ratio of sustainable products to encourage our customers in the same way.
Are there some denim styles you feel will stand the test of time?
Rigid fabric demand in denim markets is growing, however stretch products are still very common due to their desired comfort properties and timeless style opportunities.
It seems that easily stretchable fabrics with good recovery will always be popular.
What is new and exciting on the horizon?
Product groups that are compatible with our environment and planet will be more important in future. Usage of low impact raw materials and recycling the product at the end of its life circle will be the key for textile market.
